Located in the vibrant heart of Jackson Heights, Nepali Momo Cafe offers an authentic taste of Nepalese and broader Asian cuisine that truly stands out in New York City’s dynamic food scene. This cozy, intimate eatery transforms a modest space at 74-18 37th Rd into a flavorful destination where the essence of Nepalese home cooking comes alive with every bite.
The menu is a treasure trove for lovers of Himalayan flavors, boasting a variety of dishes that delight the senses. From the addictive, tangy burst of Pani Puri to the comforting, well-balanced Nepali Thali Set, diners are treated to a journey across Nepal’s diverse culinary landscape. The signature momos here—whether it’s the steamed Steamed Momo, the soul-warming Jhol Momos drenched in a subtly spiced broth, or the crispy, gingery Chicken C Momo with Szechuan sauce—are nothing short of showstoppers. The tender momos explode with savory, well-seasoned fillings that melt in your mouth, accompanied by dipping sauces that perfectly complement their delicate textures.
Fans of traditional Nepali comfort food rave about the Nepali Curry with Rice, hearty and richly spiced, and the unique Chicken Thenthuk and Chicken Thukpa—noodle soups that wrap you in warmth and flavor, ideal for a chilly New York evening. The menu also shines with classic favorites like the fluffy Sel Roti and the satisfying combination of Aaloo Puri, while the Puri Tarkari offers a wholesome vegetable medley that delights as a side or main.
Despite its small size and tightly arranged seating, which adds to its intimate, bustling ambiance, the dining experience here is elevated by exceptionally attentive and friendly service. Customers frequently mention how the staff goes above and beyond—checking in often, offering extra servings of rice, and ensuring every guest feels cared for. It’s the kind of place where you might feel slightly out of place at first, as one diner noted with some startup jitters among the diverse crowd, but the warmth of the service and the welcoming vibe quickly dissolve any hesitation.
Nepali Momo Cafe’s atmosphere pulses with the energy of a neighborhood gem that is loved by locals and visitors alike. Reviewers consistently gush about the generous portions, the flavorful and aromatic dishes, and the perfectly balanced spice levels that honor authentic Nepali cooking without overwhelming the palate. Whether you’re craving the unmistakable zing of chili momos, the satisfying depth of a Thali set, or just an unforgettable Mango Lassi to cool it all down, this café promises an unforgettable meal that will surely have you dreaming of your next visit.
everything i ordered was so so good!!! The portions are great and super filling, spent around $50 for two people including tip and ended up taking half of it home :D definitely a smaller space with close-together seating. i felt slightly out of place at first (some other customers were staring) but the server was so friendly and attentive :)) im gonna dream about this place until i go back LOL. My favs were the chana chapatne and the pani puri, they were both so addicting,, other details: there’s a button to call the server to order more food, they accept Apple Pay, they give bottles of sauce if u order momos (but i had to share mine with other tables), there’s a small bathroom, and i think people eat downstairs by default (?)
It’s 10pm and the customer traffic is still at peak. During my meal they had to tell two sets of new customers that there are no more tables. My chicken thali is delicious. It comes with a variety of items and flavors. They kept checking if I actually need anything more and offered to add rice. Very caring and attentive. One customer there was chilling for a long time after done and they just let him relax in peace while the restaurant traffic is busy. Such patience and respect for customers. The Nepali hospitality really impressed me. Of course the food is amazing. Will come again to try other menu items.
I ate at Nepali Momo Cafe for the first time just a few days ago. The location is very convenient, the staff is very friendly, and most importantly, the food is fantastic! I ordered the Nepali chicken chow mein and the jhol momo, and they were fantastic! Oh, and the mango lassi was the tastiest I've ever had. I'll be back!
Tiny restaurant but extremely delicious, the szechuan sauce was amazing with the (deep) fried chicken momos. Very gingery flavors and sauces. Had the veggie dhido set and they have curry/soup refills!! Fairly fast service.
One of the best chilly momos in NYC! People here are nice and warm. My favorite Nepali restaurant around this area!
This is the best chicken chilly I’ve ever had. I’m definitely coming back for more! The best authentic Nepali cuisine in Jackson heights. So good. The best place to eat in Jackson heights
We came to Nepali Momo cafe for lunch and ordered the chicken thali set, fried rice, and fried momo. The food is really good, like homemade comfort meals. The prices are very affordable, and the lady running the counter and kitchen was super friendly, even checking if we needed more for the thali set. If I lived nearby, I’d happily eat here every day. Judging by the regulars coming in, this place seems to be a local favorite.
